  25. .TH CURLINFO_FILETIME 3 "January 02, 2023" "libcurl 7.88.1" "curl_easy_getinfo options"
  26. .SH NAME
  27. CURLINFO_FILETIME \- get the remote time of the retrieved document
  28. .SH SYNOPSIS
  29. .nf
  30. #include <curl/curl.h>
  31. CURLcode curl_easy_getinfo(CURL *handle, CURLINFO_FILETIME, long *timep);
  32. .fi
  33. .SH DESCRIPTION
  34. Pass a pointer to a long to receive the remote time of the retrieved document
  35. in number of seconds since January 1 1970 in the GMT/UTC time zone. If you get
  36. -1, it can be because of many reasons (it might be unknown, the server might
  37. hide it or the server does not support the command that tells document time
  38. etc) and the time of the document is unknown.
  39. You must tell libcurl to collect this information before the transfer is made,
  40. by using the \fICURLOPT_FILETIME(3)\fP option to \fIcurl_easy_setopt(3)\fP or
  41. you will unconditionally get a -1 back.
  42. Consider using \fICURLINFO_FILETIME_T(3)\fP to be able to extract dates beyond
  43. the year 2038 on systems using 32 bit longs.
  44. .SH PROTOCOLS
  45. HTTP(S), FTP(S), SFTP
  46. .SH EXAMPLE

  51. /* Ask for filetime */
  52. curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_FILETIME, 1L);
  53. res = curl_easy_perform(curl);
  54. if(CURLE_OK == res) {
  55. res = curl_easy_getinfo(curl, CURLINFO_FILETIME, &filetime);
  56. if((CURLE_OK == res) && (filetime >= 0)) {
  57. time_t file_time = (time_t)filetime;
  58. printf("filetime %s: %s", filename, ctime(&file_time));
  59. }
  60. }
  61. /* always cleanup */
