  25. .TH CURLOPT_FAILONERROR 3 "January 02, 2023" "libcurl 7.88.1" "curl_easy_setopt options"
  26. .SH NAME
  27. CURLOPT_FAILONERROR \- request failure on HTTP response >= 400
  28. .SH SYNOPSIS
  29. .nf
  30. #include <curl/curl.h>
  31. CURLcode curl_easy_setopt(CURL *handle, CURLOPT_FAILONERROR, long fail);
  32. .fi
  33. .SH DESCRIPTION
  34. A long parameter set to 1 tells the library to fail the request if the HTTP
  35. code returned is equal to or larger than 400. The default action would be to
  36. return the page normally, ignoring that code.
  37. This method is not fail-safe and there are occasions where non-successful
  38. response codes will slip through, especially when authentication is involved
  39. (response codes 401 and 407).
  40. You might get some amounts of headers transferred before this situation is
  41. detected, like when a "100-continue" is received as a response to a POST/PUT
  42. and a 401 or 407 is received immediately afterwards.
  43. When this option is used and an error is detected, it will cause the
  44. connection to get closed and \fICURLE_HTTP_RETURNED_ERROR\fP is returned.
