  25. .TH CURLOPT_CAPATH 3 "January 02, 2023" "libcurl 7.88.1" "curl_easy_setopt options"
  26. .SH NAME
  27. CURLOPT_CAPATH \- directory holding CA certificates
  28. .SH SYNOPSIS
  29. .nf
  30. #include <curl/curl.h>
  31. CURLcode curl_easy_setopt(CURL *handle, CURLOPT_CAPATH, char *capath);
  32. .fi
  33. .SH DESCRIPTION
  34. Pass a char * to a null-terminated string naming a directory holding multiple
  35. CA certificates to verify the peer with. If libcurl is built against OpenSSL,
  36. the certificate directory must be prepared using the OpenSSL c_rehash utility.
  37. This makes sense only when used in combination with the
  38. \fICURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER(3)\fP option.
  39. The \fICURLOPT_CAPATH(3)\fP function apparently does not work in Windows due
  40. to some limitation in OpenSSL.
  41. The application does not have to keep the string around after setting this
  42. option.
  43. The default value for this can be figured out with \fICURLINFO_CAPATH(3)\fP.
  44. .SH DEFAULT
  45. A default path detected at build time.
  46. .SH PROTOCOLS
  47. All TLS based protocols: HTTPS, FTPS, IMAPS, POP3S, SMTPS etc.
  48. .SH EXAMPLE
  49. .nf
  50. CURL *curl = curl_easy_init();
  51. if(curl) {
  52. curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_URL, "https://example.com/");
  53. curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_CAPATH, "/etc/cert-dir");
  54. ret = curl_easy_perform(curl);
  55. curl_easy_cleanup(curl);
  56. }
  57. .fi
  58. .SH AVAILABILITY
  59. This option is supported by the OpenSSL, GnuTLS and mbedTLS (since 7.56.0)
  60. backends. The NSS backend provides the option only for backward compatibility.
  61. .SH RETURN VALUE
  62. CURLE_OK if supported; or an error such as:
  63. CURLE_NOT_BUILT_IN - Not supported by the SSL backend
  64. CURLE_UNKNOWN_OPTION
  65. CURLE_OUT_OF_MEMORY
